This reminds me of when my mom told me about when she was younger and back in Newfoundland her and her friends would go out Mumming in the winter, where people disguise themselves in all manners of clothing, go door to door, singing, eating the person's food, banging pots and pans, and were allowed to stay there until ther person fgured out who everyone was, then they would move on to the next house with the host from the last one dressed up as well, and would start over at the next house, the group getting bigger and bigger from house to house.
