The Terrorby *scheinbar

V.S. Naipaul describes in his essay The Terror, the situation in Argentina after the coming-back of Eva Perón in the late 70ies and 80ies of the last century. The scenery is an example for the situation in every country, where human rights are suspended

I wrote a few of his experiences on two panels, both 20 x 40 cm, acryl on cotton

here the German translation...:
Für angesehene oder berühmte Personen gibt es nach wie vor die legale Verhaftung auf der Grundlage spezifischer Anklagepunkte. Doch darunter gibt es kein Gesetz. Leute werden abgeholt, und niemand ist verantwortlich. Die Armee verweist diejenigen, die nachfragen, an die Polizei, und die Polizei verweist sie wieder zurück an die Armee. Eine spezielle Sprache hat sich entwickelt. So kann ein Vater den Bescheid erhalten, der Fall seines Sohnes sei "abgeschlossen".
... Niemand weiß wirklich, wer was oder warum macht; es heißt, mittlerweile könne jedermann gegen einen bestimmten Preis um die Ecke gebracht werden.
Buenos Aires ist voll von schockierten und beschädigten Menschen, die jetzt nur noch an Flucht denken können, für die es nicht mehr möglich ist, sich auf eine Seite zu schlagen, die keinen Beweggrund mehr in Argentinien erkennen können und die endlich die Barbarei anerkennen können, von der sie seit langem umgeben sind, die Barbarei, gegen die sie bis dahin das Wissen um ihre eigene Sicherheit und den alten argentinischen Köder des weiträumigen reichen Landes, des schnell verdienten Geldes und des im Überfluss vorhandenen Fleisches ausgespielt hatten, den Köder, der sich in jenen Worten äußert, mit denen in Argentinien so häufig Gespräche beendet werden. "Todovia aqui se vive mejor." "Trotzdem lebt es sich hier noch besser." ....

Dear Christiane, I am very grateful and proud that you have done an piece of art with a part of our turbulent history.

Eva Peron dies in 1952. She was loved by poor people and hated by the bourgeoisie.
In the 70ies started a new military dictatorship, we had many, in which were killed and tortured thousands of argentines. Although the evaluation data is not correct, the other party is true.
And yes, Terror is the exact word.

I found this by being very sad about all those people, who were killed or even away in a prison without any chance of court procedure... and Argentina is of course not the only country where things like that happened... I'm German and I think you know what happened here between 1933 and 1945...
